This blog is the story of how unmet expectations have impacted my life and attitudes and the lives and attitudes of others. Expectations are everywhere, and everyone struggles with them. If you are not sure what that even means, then I encourage you to spend time with two sets of posts you will find on this site. The first is called Reflections in which I interact with the expectations foisted on us both by others and ourselves in families, the church, and culture at large.

The second post is called Stories and is based loosely on my own experiences with unmet expectations through life. The writing style in Stories is more narrative and short story than the commentary style in Reflections. I will try to make the stories interesting at least, and maybe entertaining from time to time as well! As a follower of Jesus Christ for more than forty-five years, many of these stories will take place in churches I have been a part of over those years. I have been careful to change details of both locale and personality, and no church or peoples’ names are used. You will understand why when you read such stories as “Hippies in the Driveway,” and “The Teapot Lady, among others – all coming soon!

I have served as a pastor for twenty-five years, served in the USAF for another twenty years, and in private security for another five. I tell you that because I want my readers to understand that my writing is influenced by all these experiences. Most importantly, my writing arises from a Christian world view. I look forward to hearing from anyone who may agree, but especially with those who disagree. Thanks for listening!
